In this episode, we look at Rygar: The Legendary Adventure. Rygar is a 2002 Sony PlayStation 2 game by Tecmo, in which the player takes on the role of Rygar, a warrior with a mysterious past tasked by divine influence to fight a myriad of monsters from Greek and Roman mythology using a blade chained to his wrist in flashy combo-focused combat. The question is, did Rygar serve as the inspiration for God of War? If so, why isn’t Rygar more widely and fondly remembered?
