What frequency RAM is the best choice for those that want a plug and play experience with their new Ryzen AP based system without speeding a fortune?
We are testing the default DDR4 speed of 2400mhz against some of the XMP speeds available on the market.
Testing all at the same CL or latency to rule that out, and if you have a lower latency kit then you will see a small jump in performance, but often not as much as you much from a jump in frequency.
Speeds tested 2400mhz 3000mhz 3600mhz 4000mhz and 4400mhz so approx 600mhz jumps until our RAM maxed out.
It seems that based on the simple plug and play settings and the current market pricing that DDR4 3600 CL18 will give the best bang per buck in terms of FPS and a smoother experience in games. 4000mhz needs work to get the most out it and is financially not worth the hassle in my opinion.
DDR4 3200 CL16 is a little slower than DDR4 3600 CL18 and roughly the same price so in that case i would go with the higher frequency,
