Ah yes, the first test in Bloodborne. The cleric beast's biggest danger is simply the camera angle and possibly mis timing dodges. If you get between the Cleric Beast and a wall, you'll be dodging in darn near first person view which is not conductive to good dodging generally.

As a consequence it's really better if it's back isn't next to a wall, bad news is it's going to happen eventually. The way to deal with it? Well 2 ways, 1: Back up and force it to move. This isn't ideal since it goes nuts if you're far away. Number 2 is simply, dodge by paying attention to it's movements and try not to get stuck on the environment in the process.
