In this video, I'm doing a 1 Credit Challenge of a game that I never heard before in my entire life, but it was recently released for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch as part of Arcade Archives. That game is: Saboten Bombers for the Arcade. This game was developed by NMK and published by Tecmo, it was only released in 1992. Saboten Bombers is a single screen platform game. The main character is an anthropomorphic cactus. The gameplay consists of throwing bombs at the enemies, and avoiding being hit by the enemy bombs. There are a variety of enemies and colorful backgrounds. The game has over 50 levels, and also a versus mode. The game has many collectables, the most notable of which is the cake which gives the player an extra life after collecting 8 pieces. The game is shown on one screen with platforms in various positions. The bomb you throw bounces around the screen for a short time before exploding. If you're caught in the path of the bomb then you bounce with it but you can jump clear. If you explode with the bomb then you lose one of three lives but you do leave behind a ring and if you collect it when you reappear then all enemies are killed. If you get hit by an enemies weapon then you lose a life as well. Each enemy killed leaves behind a object for a short space of time and when collected gives bonus points and if they leave behind a piece of cake and you collect enough then you are awarded an extra life. On the fifth stage the two players must fight each other (if one player then the arcade plays) by throwing spiked balls which bounce around. One touch is all that is needed to win and huge bonus points are awarded. On the Tenth stage you fight a huge boss. Once all lives are lost then it is game over but you can continue on the level you lost on. About my run in Saboten Bombers: This game is really weird, but it's also a very tricky one and I feel really bad that I couldn't get to the first boss, because I got game over in stage 9. At least I'm okay with the end score I achieved. Overall, Saboten Bombers is a tough single screen platformer for the arcade. I think I prefer better single screen platformers that I played before, such as: Bubble Bobble, Snow Bros., Rod Land, ZuPaPa! and so on. But it's not a bad game at all. I hope you enjoy this 1 Credit Challenge video of Saboten Bombers for the Arcade and thanks for watching!
