From what I can personally confirm, there are two ways that I've found that allow you to recruit Ameya Aisling when you visit the 'world with spirit' while playing through Diva's story.

1) Investigate the White Witch territory first, then follow that plot line to the very end. When you cannot progress that plot line, check any of the other regions, but DO NOT intervene by fighting yourself.

2) Investigate the Black Witch territory first, then follow that plot line to the very end. When you cannot progress that plot line, check any of the other regions, but DO NOT intervene by fighting yourself. It's worth noting that IMO this plot line is more difficult than the White Witch portion, as it does involve some mandatory multi-battle fights that do not allow you to save in between them, one of which is a boss fight not available on the other routes.

3) Regardless of which of the above two routes you pick and complete, once you are called upon to the central area to witness the end of the calamity, choose to take Ameya's place and fight it yourself. Succeed, and you'll end this world's story with Ameya joining your party. (I have not checked to see if allowing Ameya to handle it herself may result in her joining afterwards.)

EDIT: I have managed to confirm a route where you can still get Ameya while participating in all possible conflicts on the Black Witch route (as in, I started the black witch route, then went to clear all of the optional crystal battles I could in the other regions before progressing the black witch route further). However, I was unable to completely resolve the Black Witch story route, as I was called back to the central tower upon obtaining the black staff towards the start of the black witch route. Clearing the final calamity fight still resulted in Ameya joining the party afterwards, though it is unknown what long term consequences there might be for not completely clearing my chosen story route.
