What is different between Kingdom Two Crowns and Kingdom: New Lands?
Kingdom Two Crowns introduces a new campaign style game
Whereas Kingdom: Classic and Kingdom: New Lands were roguelikes with permadeath mechanics, Kingdom Two Crowns has a more encouraging approach. Yeah, you can still lose a game, but instead of starting all the way back at the beginning you will instead have an heir start a new reign and that heir will begin with the task of repairing your ruined kingdom. On top of this, Kingdom Two Crowns offers new NPCs, mounts, and an entirely new endgame!
Kingdom Two Crowns introduces new settings that have their own unique NPCs and strategies
Kingdom is known for its gorgeous visuals set in a mysterious medieval backdrop (and that setting has been revamped!) but now itโs time for Kingdom to venture into other settings. Our first one is dubbed Kingdom Two Crowns: Shogun and itโs a feudal Japan-inspired setting that has its own NPCs and strategies. The end goal of Shogun is the same as the medieval setting but the strategies you use to achieve these objectives need to be adjusted. For example, and without giving too much away, youโll see that expanding in Shogun takes a bit more effort than players might be used to. Shogun will be available on launch day, there is nothing extra youโll need to do to access it other than starting a new campaign (there are three save slots now so you can keep your medieval campaign going simultaneously).
Kingdom Two Crowns introduces co-op for the first time
Two crowns are better than one! Or so they sayโฆ Kingdom Two Crowns allows you to play side-by-side with someone in local co-op and that will be available on every single platform at launch. Online co-op will be available on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One at launch with Switch support coming early next year.
There are more differences youโll discover, especially if youโve played New Lands, but those above are by and far the largest.
