Here is a look at the Sailor Moon Arcade Game from Banpresto. This game was released back in 1995 in arcades in Japan and also had a small release in Europe...for some reason.

Being based off of a Japanese Anime released in the mid 1990's the game is, of course a side scrolling beat em' up game like Streets of Rage or Final Fight.

While you can play as the main cast the game is only for two players. It would have been great if you could play as all five characters together, but being a mostly Japanese game it was just set up as a kit game to be used on a two player Candy Cab.

The one thing to note is the game is VERY hard. At some points the game becomes unfair. Your character's attacks do next to no damage while enemies can take off large chunks with only a few hits and they constantly gang up on you. The items in the game don't help out much. Health items give next to nothing back and the "bombs" only seem to hurt the lesser enemies and not the end stage bosses. The final boss, Queen Beryl, loves to hover at just the right spot where she can hit you but your character can't unless you jump.

You'd think being a game that'd be for kids it wouldn't be as hard but you can tell they wanted to just take money out of kid's pockets. The only good things to note is the game does look really good and the Japanese voice cast does provide their voices but other then that it's the textbook definition of a "Quarter Muncher"

Big thanks to Sarah from The Pinball Wizard Arcade in Pelham New Hampshire for having this game set up in an old Ninja Gaiden cab for letting us get some video of it.
