salsa gum tape サルサガムテープ 花になった蟷螂 "hana ni natta kamakiri"
This is Salsa Gum Tape, a Japanese traveling-circus-like rock band consisting of some quite frankly superhuman members, performing a song called "Hana ni natta kamakiri" ("The praying mantis who became a flower") live at the Red Zone bar in Otsuka, Tokyo, Japan, on one magic night in February of 2005. That night, it was revealed that the band's drummer was none other than Tetsuya Kajiwara, formerly of The Blue Hearts. After the Blue Hearts broke up, Kajiwara had disappeared from music for several years prior to resurfacing as the band's drummer. Also on that night, Hiroto Kohmoto, lead singer of The Blue Hearts and The High-Lows, joined in on the session to play harmonica and sing backing vocals.
This song was originally written by Tetsuya Kajiwara, and was recorded and eventually released on The Blue Hearts' post-breakup album "PAN"; long-time fans of the band did not particularly enjoy the song In its original recorded form. (that might be putting it lightly.) When Salsa Gum Tape plays it live, and Kajiwara is drumming, it makes perfect sense.
