For the third year, the emerging professional volunteer group, Echelon MKE hosted a five-star dining experience for homeless families and individuals staying in The Salvation Army's Emergency Lodge. A menu of salad, rolls, sirloin steak or vegetable lasagna, garlic mashed potatoes and cheesecake was served to 120 residents. This event has had a huge impact on both the residents and volunteers in previous years. For many residents, it is the first experience to have a meal that has been plated and served to them. For many of the volunteers, it is a chance to see the impact of fundraising projects throughout the year and to realize that when we really just get to know our fellow-man, we are more alike than different.
