GMing 101 in my opinion "Let them play what they want to play" it's just game. Same races and character classes from the players handbook no big deal as far as this DM is concerned. Also as players in the game I'd hope they would role-play their characters different and other minor differences that add up to a completely different character in the adventuring party.
