Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Vlogging Setup and Internal Microphone Wind Protection Deadcat Wind Filters
So in this video I'm showing you how to apply a couple of Rycote Micro Windjammer wind filters to a Nillkin Camshield Pro case for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The Rycote Micro Windjammer is a type of small deadcat, wind filter or wind screen as some people call them. Whatever you call them, these Rycote Windjammers are designed to do exactly as the name suggests and they block out wind from hitting the microphones on whatever you apply them to, in this case, the Nillkin case for the S24 Ultra. Which massively reduces the amount of wind distortion you will usually get on your mics in breezy and windy conditions.
The case used is the Nillkin Camshield Pro, it's the one with the super tough and protective aluminium alloy metal door that protects the lenses on the S24 Ultra. This is by far the best case for the S24 Ultra that I have come across so far for video, photo stuff and vlogging on the S24 Ultra.
To use the Rycote Micro Windjammers you just peel off one of the double sided sticky rings and stick it down around the microphone holes on the case. You get 30 of these rings in the pack. Then peel off the paper from the sticky ring you've just applied to reveal the other side of the sticky ring and apply one of the Windjammers (deadbeats) to it. You get 6 of these in the pack. Make sure to press down on the Windjammer and sticky ring so that it's all stuck down properly to your case and it's job done. These sticky rings and Windjammers are easily removed and don't leave a mess on your case or whatever you stick them to. You can of course stick the Windjammers direct to the S24 Ultra if you want.
In the video the second take on the S24 Ultra was focusing on the background and not me. This was its autofocus focusing on the wrong thing. Also, there was no stabilisation on the S24 Ultra shots as I was in 8K and switched off the stabiliser to see how wide the FOV field of view would be for vlogging using the main camera on the S24 Ultra.
