The Samsung rv511 laptop is a budget computer, let get that part clear. But before we relegate it into the depths of cheap laptop hell. The rv511 is design and positioned to be an everyday work horse for the average consumer. Its specs include an Intel Core i3-380M processor clocked at 2.56Ghz, 4GB of RAM , 500Gb HDD, Wi-fi 802.11n., Intel HD Graphics processor and a DVD drive.

Design wise the Samsung rv511 is built to look and feel everyday. I must say there are aspects of the design that show some of Samsung's innovation and there are others that just feel flat. The Keyboard feels very good and well laid out, with very good key impressions as you click on the devices, the track pad is very smooth and comfortable. Though the 2 trackpad button feel very clicky and breakable. the 15.6 Led screen at a resolution of 1366x768 works well with no washed out. The Laptop comes with a full assortment of ports with 3 USB 2.0 ports, a HDMI out port VGA an your ports for headphone and mic.

In usage, I found the Samsung rv511 to have about 3hours of battery life which is about standard for laptops within its price range. Though I expected more from it 6 cell battery ( 4 hours would have been nice). The laptop handled task well, though the build is limited to 4GB of Ram, it can be upgraded to 8Gb. I was able to open up a browser with 10 tabs and still run a decent excel spreadsheet with out an slowdowns to the system.

Overall the Samsung rv511 is a very good starter laptop, and spec wise the system performs well. What I do like is the serious lack of bloatware on the machine. which allows user to get it right out of the box and get going. On the down side the design leaves a lot to be desired especially for Samsung. Some part of the laptop feel like plastic and cheap while others feel well built. So i I would say it's a mixed bag in that category. In the end the Samsung is a very good buy for an entry level laptop and performs better than its sticker price.
