Shattered Sun is a large scale RTS set in the future featuring never seen before gameplay mechanics like shattering the entire map with superweapons, and dynamic map features like gaining control over the weather and freezing oceans - then driving units over it.
This fight for survival takes place on the visually spectacular Dyson Sphere - a man-made space station encircling the sun.
Gameplay:
The gameplay appeals to fans who love old-school RTS game mechanics, with familiar mechanics like tech levels, flow economy, a king-piece unit, and technology upgrades. We also build upon the genre with exciting new gameplay mechanics like our drone swarms.
This game favors macro over micro and lets you focus on the bigger picture by queuing units for construction, templating sets of buildings, and even giving orders to units that have not been built yet!
Shattered Sun:
If you manage to build one of the incredibly expensive superweapons in Sanctuary, you gain the power to not only destroy your enemies, but the very map itself. The mechanical supports beneath the ground give way, and your foes along with the earth fall down, into the sun.
Weather Control:
The high-tech Dyson Sphere has complete control over its own weather systems. Some maps have weather control features that can be manipulated to snap-freeze the entire map. This dramatically changes where units can travel, freezing ships and allowing land units to cross the frozen water.
Epic Battle:
Physically simulated projectiles increase the realism and immersion of the game and provide exciting near-miss moments like when a bomb accidentally lands on a plane mid-flight instead of the target.
The massive scale of 10,000 units on the battlefield under direct player control and up to 40 km by 40 km maps as a battleground.
Strategic zoom lets you control everything from a single view in which you can quickly zoom into the smallest scout and out to the entire map.
A Unique Universe:
The year is 2758 and the near-complete megastructure known as Sanctuary embraces the Sun. The gargantuan construct now shelters over a trillion lives. Alas, Sanctuary is far from the idealized paradise it was supposed to be. War-ravaged shells of cities are now encased by the darkness of space, looming over scorched earth and barren wastelands – painful reminders of better days, long past.
In Sanctuary:Shattered Sun you can choose between one of the 3 factions fighting to gain full control of the Dyson Sphere. Each faction has different methods, weapons, vehicles, and units to achieve a single goal: to reign over this galactic sector.
