I'll probably do another video in a few weeks but right now here are my initial thoughts. Also my opinions on adventure mode may vastly differ from your own because after finding everything out I probably wouldn't play the new stuff more than a few times while using the new characters on Obelisk is a lot more fun for me. Perhaps I am trying too hard to convince other people to play that mode instead ;)

I think you should probably enjoy all the free content before buying the DLC and then if you are having fun and liking the new mechanics then you should purchase the new characters. There is a LOT of free stuff in this update that you shouldn't overlook and the DLC is indeed priced exceptionally high and probably not worth it for those who aren't playing multiple times a week. I especially don't think adventure players will get the value they are expecting but it's hard to put a price on the value of a new side act in a roguelike.
