This video will likely be out of date very quickly, so please understand that this was recorded right after Update 8 was released on Experimental, and only one additional patch had been pushed since that release. Further patches should improve performance.
Lumen and TSR are both graphically intensive settings, and have heavily impacted performance. This is NOT an apples-to-apples comparison. However, many players would obviously like to use these new Unreal Engine 5 settings to make their game look nicer. This video highlights the performance sacrifices that are made in order to run with these settings on.
Comparing Update 7 (Early Access) to
Update 8 (Experimental) on Day 2
(Experimental Version v0.8.0.1 – Build 238993)
Test System Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
GPU: Nvidia RTX 3070 8GB
RAM: 32GB @ 3600MHz
Both versions installed on an SSD
Both versions are played at 2560 x 1440 resolution,
recorded in 1920 x 1080,
and are being recorded live with OBS.
Upper numbers are live readings. Lower numbers
are taken from benchmarks without OBS on.
Both are shown for the sake of transparency.
For Update 8 testing:
TSR is on and set to Balanced
, Global Illumination is set to High,
Reflections are set to On.
Ultra and Medium presets are
otherwise default settings for both versions.
