Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! This holiday has taken on a far more important meaning to me this year, having found out the family's background is remarkably Irish. Whether you yourself are Irish or not, this holiday is now celebrated by recognizing the influence of Ireland and its people, so to make sure I spent the holiday right, I thought I'd finally look into the Fate series and its long arm of worldly inspiration.

While I could've spent St. Pat's talking about Cu Chulainn, one of the series' most frequently-appearing characters, I found that it was a more fascinating and fruitful endeavor to instead look into the shadows and talk about the warrior queen and teacher, Scáthach. So what does Type-Moon get right about their depiction of Scáthach? Quite a bit, despite her lone appearance so far.
