A review, unboxing and teardown of the Magic 2 (a.k.a. Scorpion XVI, Aito, MG-16), an early 90's SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis 1:1 hardware clone. The unique thing about this bootleg console is that it uses many of the exact same components found in a real Mega Drive. Even more impressive is the fact that it's actually compatible with the Mega CD add-on! (and 32X with a bit of soldering ;p)

The Scorpion 16 pirate console is probably best known for it's brief appearance on the early 90's gaming TV show Bad Influence. If you haven't already seen the now infamous clip with Andy Crane and Violet Berlin then I highly recommend checking it out...

Something interesting I noticed after reviewing this clip again is that the console Andy Crane is holding doesn't actually have a second cartridge slot fitted to it! If you look closely you can see it is just like mine with the area for the card edge being unpopulated.
