So, turns out an SCP VR game is a pretty scary concept. I'm new to these games but after an afternoon of testing out SCP Labrat gameplay I already know that I absolutely hate SCP 173, I hate it so much! I have always been a huge fan of horror games & I'm always looking for a new VR horror game to sink my teeth into, I also completely missed the SCP craze when it first came around but I remember seeing plenty of SCP Containment Breach gameplay courtesy of my younger brother. So when I saw this VR SCP game sitting there on Steam I knew I had to dive in to see how scary these creatures really are... Now I always assumed that SCP 173 was small, for some reason I had pictured the creaturing being about 4ft tall but jumping into virtual reality and coming face to face with the VR SCP 173 I quickly realised that it's actually MASSIVE! Easily over 6ft and absolutely hellbent on breaking my neck. SCP Labrat is a full conversion of the original SCP Containment Breach gameplay loop, navigate your way through the facility, find keycards, learn about the creatures who are making their way through the halls (stay away from them, trust me) and eventually escape. Playing SCP VR really feels like Dreadhalls, one of my all time favourite VR horror experiences and a game that is amongst the best VR horror games, and learning about each individual SCP's lore & history feels key to your survival meaning that each run you embark upon should in theory be a little better than your last.

My only gripe at this early stage is performance, SCP Labrat gameplay feels a little choppy right now, having tested the game on very high, high and eventually medium settings I could see no discernible changes between the graphics settings and each one produced results that were a little uncomfortable to play. If you can push past that though there's a great little free VR horror game here that genuinely got me a couple of times. If the devs stick with it then they've got a real winner on their hands and I'll be sure to return to this one regularly, if only to overcome my fear of that damn SCP 173!!!
