Sea of Stars - Ch. 15 - Cataclysm
So last time, we beat the Dweller of Woe. So the game must be over right? Not exactly. I'd hate to give away any major spoilers, so I'll just focus on what's happening now. I think the Archivist puts it best in this chapter: our heroes are heading back to Brisk, while the Headmaster searches for a way to reach Mesa Island.
CHAPTER 15 - CATACLYSM
I believe this chapter starts immediately after the Dweller of Woe fight concludes. But of course, I'm unable to save right before, or right after it starts. So technically, the cataclysm already happened.
We left off in the lobby of 'The First Stage of Grief' after leaving the Headmaster to get some rest. Here, you actually cannot leave the inn. If you do, it'll tell you to go see Yolande. Serai already teleported to Brisk, so Captain Khlee'shae won't be there. When you're ready, talk to Yolande.
After a brief scene with the Archivist, you'll be back in Brisk. Serai will be up ahead in battle, so you'll join her. These monsters are considerably stronger than what we've faced thus far. In particular, they have much higher HP. However, they are also much weaker against Solstice magic. After the fight, you'll go around town clearing the areas of monsters and saving the townspeople.
Eventually you'll reach the area where the 'you know what' landed and a scene will play out. The immediate priority is helping the people of Brisk to relocate apparently, so that they can begin to rebuild. However the 'Oakum Skiff' won't be able to get to the prospective island. So the plan is to finally take over the 'Vespertine', the legendary pirate ship we've heard so much about.
Serai will reveal who she really is to our heroes, however it appears it was obvious to everyone. Her crew is apparently still in the dark. We head to the peninsula automatically and jump at the correct moment to board the Vespertine. The next chapter in the game is called 'The Sea of Nightmare' and it definitely feels like it actually starts right here.
As you board the Vespertine, Hortense the legendary navigator will warn you that the ship is about to teleport back to the Sea of Nightmare. But it's too late. Since we don't have the 'Coin of Undeath Accord' anymore, we'll have to take the ship by force the old-fashioned way: simply by clobbering everyone. Hortense informs us though that in order to beat 'Stormcaller', the Vespertine's captain, we'll first need to take down three lightning rods that are powering the storm above.
Hortense is skeptical that we can actually do this, so as a test, she'll ask us to go find her map first. There's some weird ghost fire blocking several paths in every room. You'll need to clear the room of all monsters in order to eliminate it. There's a good amount of food being doled out, so use it to your advantage instead of utilizing MP or using combos in battle to heal.
Once you go below deck, you'll just need to clear a room or two before you find Hortense's map. There's also a campfire and save point. We'll end things here for now so that we can still make a video for the next chapter.
