We're back! So last time, we did the Sacred Grove and went through the Docarri custom of taking a seashell and letting it drink from the altar. This somehow imbues the seashell with a certain magic that allows us to breathe underwater. Now we can finally access Docarri Village and meet the Oracle of Tides. Let's go do that.

CHAPTER 20 - ORACLE OF TIDES

Before we jump in, I have to unfortunately report that I had some technical difficulties in recording towards the end. It happened when you're in the Temple speaking with the Oracle. There's a lot of water flowing from a million different places, all over the background. I guess maybe it was strangely too much for my computer to handle. Anyway, there's some lag on the dialogue text in that scene. This is something that hasn't happened since the first chapter I recorded, so it's really unfortunate. Everything was fine before/after this part though, so there's that.

Anyway, we left off in the entrance of the Sacred Grove, as we were leaving. Head back to the lake and as you enter, a new whirlpool will appear at the center. This is a short chapter, so we'll take our time and look around the village. We'll start by talking to the guy off to the right. He's a grandpa, looking for his three grandkids. So we'll do a little mini-side quest. Now we'll explore the village in earnest and go clockwise from here.

Docarri houses have 'inner chambers'. Apparently Docarri are introverts and need time alone to recharge. I wonder if anyone else picked up on that lol. Talk to everyone. You'll meet a father and son, who decide to move to Mirth. There's new gear and items to buy, along with a couple items lying around. You'll find two Rainbow Conches, a Sapphire Ingot and an Old Coral Vase for Teaks. Additionally, if you find all three grandkids, grandpa will give you another Rainbow Conch.

Now here's the best part. There's also a shop in town where you can turn in your Rainbow Conches in exchange for rare and important items. I currently have 19, but I've missed or lazily skipped a couple. I was able to get the first three items: shop plans, the 'Cornucopia' relic and plans for an inn. That's pretty neat. I guess developing Mirth is going to be an ongoing side quest. Alrighty, now that there's nothing else, let's go talk to the Oracle.

The Oracle will tell you three important things. First, Zane and Valere are the (legendary?) Solstice Warriors that have been foretold and waited on for centuries. Although, the mythology behind this whole Sun/Moon Solstice religion has been vague and ambiguous, so I'm not quite yet sure what this actually means.

Secondly, behind the Oracle is a waterfall that leads to an immense tower, the Tower of Antsudlo. The tower contains a secret that only Zane and Valere can uncover.

Lastly, the Oracle tells us there is absolutely no way we can defeat the Dweller of Strife in battle. This may sound like there's no hope, but it just means they'll have to beat it a different way. For example somewhere in town, a Docarri talks about 'Torment Peak'. Apparently, Solstice Warriors sealed a great evil there a long time ago. So maybe we're going to do some sort of 'containment wave' type technique, like from Dragon Ball. Who knows...

The Oracle will eventually wish you Godspeed and you'll head into the waterfall. You'll pop onto the underwater version of the world map, which is a little humorous, lol. Technically, the new chapter starts right here, but I feel it's going to be a long one. So I'll keep it going until we reach a save point...

Here in this underwater section, there are two possible monsters you can face, 'Sharksenal' and 'Shrimp Knight'. Sharksenal is obviously the tougher of the two. It can surround itself with water, which makes it impervious to regular attacks. Use live mana or skills/combos. If you can, you might as well try and skip this fight altogether. The Shrimp Knights are unavoidable though.

The Shrimp Knight's special attack, 'Clone' will create a weaker version of one of your characters. But they're really not that tough. Ring both bells using the Coral Hammer and you'll proceed to the next room. Use the valve in the center of this first section to drain the water from the room. Now you can use your special items, like the Graplou, again. More importantly, here's a campsite and save point!

Join us next time for Chapter 21 - 'Beyond the Waterfall'.
