The Seagate Ironwolf 16TB NAS HDD is an ultra high capacity, 7,200 RPM, spinning hard drive with 256MB of onboard cache. This drive carries a 3-year warranty from Seagate as standard.
Installing this into a Case Labs SMA8-Rev. A chassis bay, I had no issue with the drive immediately being ready for use after formatting. The drive, when formatted, has 14.5 TB of usable space. This particular drive passed all SMART checks and works perfectly fine. In HDTune Pro, Reads were about 275MB/sec from the beginning inner portions of the drive platters and reached about 125MB/sec at the ends with a seek time of about 9ms and CPU usage about 9% on an i9-7940X.
Overall, I am very impressed with this drive despite naturally preferring the speeds of SSDs. For storing a huge amount of data, this drive performs very well in-use and hopefully should last awhile. Thank you for watching. Like, comment, and subscribe for more!
