Finally, a simple way of having seamless stone slabs and sandstone!

For 1.11 snapshots and other later releases.

Just copy one of these commands into chat (you'll need to be in a "cheats enabled" world) to get the special command block like you saw in the video:

STONE COMMAND:

/give @p command_block 1 0 {BlockEntityTag:{auto:1b,Command:"setblock ~ ~ ~ double_stone_slab seamless=true"},display:{Name:"Seamless Double Stone Slab"}}

SANDSTONE COMMAND:

/give @p command_block 1 0 {BlockEntityTag:{auto:1b,Command:"setblock ~ ~ ~ double_stone_slab seamless=true,variant=sandstone"},display:{Name:"Seamless Double Sandstone Slab"}}

When you place down the command block you're given, it'll automatically turn into the respective block.

First, get yourself a command block. In a world where cheats and command blocks are enabled, run the follow command in chat:

/give @p command_block

Then, copy one of these commands into the command block:

STONE COMMAND:

/give @p command_block 1 0 {BlockEntityTag:{auto:1b,Command:"setblock ~ ~ ~ double_stone_slab seamless=true"},display:{Name:"Seamless Double Stone Slab"}}

SANDSTONE COMMAND:

..and activate the command block (using a redstone block, etc...)!
