Charles Wooley sets off on the second leg of his Australian odyssey, this week journeying across the magical Top End and meeting the hardy people who populate this remote region. For Port Douglas he heads inland travelling to the Cape, continuing his search for the real Australia. At an Atherton Tablelands pub he comes across two young mothers with very firm and unkind views on Australian men, then in the Gulf a fishermen with harsh criticism of John Howard and his gun laws. Then it's on to a cattle station for a less than romantic introduction to the lonely life led by those who eke a living from the vast but desolate land holdings. With spectacular footage and memorable characters, the Heartlands is Charles Wooley's very personal reminder to Australians of the great country and people beyond the city limits.
