The first episode of Marvel’s Secret Invasion features many Easter eggs and important moments that reference the MCU and the comics. Here are some of them:
The title cards that show the locations of the scenes are similar to those used in Captain America: Civil War, another MCU spy thriller.
The conspiracy theorist who exposes the Skrulls mentions a 30-year plan, which refers to the time gap between Captain Marvel and Secret Invasion, when Nick Fury agreed to help the Skrulls find a new home.
Everett Ross, a character who appeared in Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther, is revealed to be a Skrull in disguise.
Nick Fury’s space station SABER is an acronym for Strategic Aerospace Ballistic Emergency Response, which is similar to SWORD, another space agency in the comics and WandaVision.
Talos’ daughter G’iah is named after a Skrull spy who lived on Earth with her family in the comic series Meet the Skrulls.
Gravik’s right-hand Skrull Pagon is based on a comic character who impersonated Elektra and was one of the main villains of the original Secret Invasion storyline.
The shocking death of Maria Hill, Nick Fury’s longtime ally and former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., who is killed by Gravik while trying to protect Fury. This is one of the biggest twists of the episode and has major implications for the MCU.
