At 9pm GMT (4pm EST), an event was supposed to happen in game at the Grand Exchange, Ardougne and Catherby. 24 hours prior to the event, Game News messages similar to the Easter event ones would appear in the chat. One appeared 15 minutes before and 1 minute before, as seen in this video.

This update was more of a "strange power" type teaser for the forthcoming Runespan update this week. After a brief amount of time, the rifts vanished and the wizards teleported away afterwards. I heard the Catherby and Ardougne rifts were slightly different than the one at the Grand Exchange, but they disappeared before I could get a chance to see them all. While the rift at the GE was open, some creatures we will encounter in the Runespan showed up through it and walked around near the rift.
