Round two of exploring the Sega Master System library! Once again, this is a series where I play 5 randomly drawn games from the system against a top 100 list from Retro-Sanctuary. Imagine if you found a Sega Master System with 5 games included at a garage sale or flea market, get home, and try them out for 15 minutes a piece one afternoon. If you want more information, check out the description from part 1. Anyway, let's get started! Today we have Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, Ninja Gaiden, SpellCaster, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, and Super Kick Off. An interesting mix, for sure, but a shocking amount of action platformers. Anyway, wish me luck, and let's go!

0:02:00 - Ghouls 'n Ghosts
0:20:07 - Ninja Gaiden
0:38:19 - SpellCaster
0:58:45 - Alex Kidd in Miracle World
1:14:14 - Super Kick Off

Here is my ranking and final first impression reviews of the 5 games in today's episode:

1. Ninja Gaiden: Very fun action platformer that is very challenging with great backgrounds and fun music. Not much more to really say, it's just good. It has features and a playstyle that is clearly Ninja Gaiden while still being unique enough to set itself apart from the NES version.
2. Ghouls 'n Ghosts: Surprisingly good looking 8-bit port of a 16-bit game that while clearly being a direct port, manages to introduce new gameplay elements that compliment the different hardware and lesser horsepower of the system. Having RPG elements in a Ghosts 'n Goblins entry works shockingly well. In fact, I may tie this and Ninja Gaiden for number 1, both are kinda on par with one another. Play this game, especially if you're a fan of the franchise!
3. SpellCaster: Not the most well-playing game in the general sense, but this game combines so many genres I hadn't seen put together in a very unique game unlike anything I've seen on the NES. I think I will stream this game in the future. Check this one out! 3 really good games in one part. Too bad for entries 4 and 5, haha.
4. Super Kick Off: I just don't like soccer games. Better than some of the other old soccer games I've played, but there's clearly a lot of game modes and multiplayer, so I can't trash on it too hard.
5. Alex Kidd in Miracle World: Quite possibly the worst thing I've ever played, in all honesty. I'm not even trying to ham it up or be a drama queen, but every second of this was pain. Visually, in terms of audio, slippery controls, bad hit detection, dumb levels, infuriating chance-based level progression system. I don't think, if given a choice between this and another terri-bad game, I would choose Alex Kidd over the other game.
