Seijin Plays FFT - Geomancer SCC Part 4 : Kill All Enemies?!
Welcome to my Geomancer SCC. For more details, read the description in part 1. A recap can be found below the line.
This video covers the Thieves Fort battle. The objective is to defeat Miluda, and for four geomancers, this is a very easy task. However, to make it more entertaining, I tried to kill all enemies first, which is a bit more difficult.
In this map, you have access to a lot of panels that have *really* nasty status inflictions. Carve Model (manmade stone terrain, i.e. stone, bricks) has a chance to inflict petrify. The petrify status counts as a death, by the way. And in most story battles, the AI is ill-equipped to fight against such a nasty status effect. There are very, very few instances where the enemy can actually cure that status effect.
The other nasty status effect is frog, which has a chance to be inflicted when using Elemental while standing in water. That skill is called Water Ball. Note that you cannot take actions while standing in a depth of 2 or more in water. Only a depth of 1. I still believe that you should be able to use Water Ball in 2+ depths of water because you're precisely calling upon the power of said water, but whatever. Note that, in traditional Final Fantasy fashion, you can reverse the frog status when successfully inflicting the frog status. Therefore, it's possible to unfrog an enemy with Water Ball.
Anyway, I didn't grind between the last fight and this one, so I didn't get to learn much. Only one character has Carve Model, and nobody has Water Ball. I actually struggled quite a bit in this fight as a result, because I had rather limited access to my Elemental skill. This is more a lack of preparation on my part than anything else, though.
All the wood panels are Demon Fire, which neither of my character had at that point, so it limited my possibilities a lot. Demon Fire can inflict sleep, which is one of the better status effects in this game, imo. It lasts a really long time, thus enabling you to regroup or kill all other enemies while one or two are asleep doing nothing, and a physical attack does extra damage (I think +50%, but I'm not sure) on a sleeping target.
I believe the end result (trying to kill all enemies, and only one character having Carve Model) is more entertaining than just bumrushing Miluda. Enjoy!
Difficulty : 2/10 (3.5/10 when killing everything)

This is not a "normal" playthrough. This playthrough only shows story battles. If you have never played this game, I suggest you don't watch these videos. What is an "SCC"? It stands for Straight Character Challenge... no, wait, it stands for Single Class Challenge... ah, whatever. There's been many names, but long story short, it involves playing through the game with Ramza + 4 generics, staying in the same class throughout the entire game, and without using *any* ability from *any* other class. Due to the nature of the challenge, it begins at Sweegy Woods (or Dorter Trade City if you want), because you cannot reach your desired class without grinding random battles at Mandalia Plains. Unless your desired class is squire or chemist, obviously.
Other rules for this challenge are the following :
-Special character (i.e. Orlandu) cannot be used, even on the SCC's class. Due to their higher-than-average stat growth, they'd have better stats than generics, and we don't want that. They can be recruited to take away their equipment, but should be swiftly booted out. One can keep Mustadio to have access to the endgame extra quests, but that is seen as against the rules to some people. I won't be doing that.
-Level caps are 20 for chapter 1, 35 for chapter 2, 50 for chapter 3 and 70 before entering Orbonne Monastery at the end of chapter 4.
-Guests can be any class, as they're not gonna stick around too much. I try not to make them OP (i.e. knight Delita with Auto Potion), usually keeping them in simple classes.
-No other dumb stuff. I think this covers any and all possible loopholes and abuses. This is a challenge run, after all. This includes the 9999 JP glitch, the weapon duplication glitch, etc. No save/load states are allowed (for people playing on emulator), either.
