Video game collecting has been hard for over a decade, with no signs of slowing down. In this video I talk about selling my collection. I started actively pursuing game collecting over 10 years ago . Collecting video games has been a passion of mine and a fun hobby . I’ve been playing video games since I was five years old. Playing and owning video games has always been around in my life . The video game collecting scene has has changed and evolved over time. Game collecting has become a sellers market, and it’s a perfect time to be selling right now. Social media has a big affect on why we collect. Selling games has a lot of ups and downs. A collection can become too much. Game collecting can get stale. Lately I’ve been collecting for Evercade. I recently purchased an Atari VCS.
Recently popular YouTuber, Destiny Fomo Made a video about selling her collection. She isn’t the first person to do this by any means. Youtubers such as Retro Rick and RGT 85 have also made a Videos talking about selling a Collection. Years ago our fellow youtuber Smash JT asked the question are old video games useless? There are just so many different ways we can play old games now.
I think his video game collectors when we mature to a certain point see the need to pair down our collection. I think it’s good to focus on finding games you really want. Also, a lot of collectors find themselves in situations where they have buyer’s remorse. Buyer’s remorse can be very common in Video game collecting. Selling parts off of your video game collection is never easy for a lot of people. So many people I’ve invested a lot of time in the video game collecting hobby And it can be hard to let go of certain games. I think of time and space permits a lot of people would collect more and more games. But I also don’t think it’s always good when people spend more money than they have on games and when they’re actively spending money just a store games. There’s a lot going on with game collecting,
It feels good to pair down my collection over the years. Sometimes I buy video games that I don’t really need or don’t really make me happy Collecting just to collect can be a slippery slope
Video game collecting should be fun, but it can also be redundant. It’s important that I try to think about all the purchases I make and how much those purchases will impact other things I buy in the future or impact my ability to buy other things in the future that would be more important to me. As a collector we really have to weigh all the pros and cons of video game collecting
