SEQUENCE BREAKING in Déjà Vu: A Nightmare Comes True (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears!
413This glitch is usually called the Leave Bullet Glitch, and it allows you to do some sweet, sweet sequence breaking in Deja Vu for the NES!
There are many ways to perform this trick, but the first step is to make your way to the front of Pete's All Night Gun Palace on Peoria street.
In this example I chose to LEAVE the $20-Bill in the WASTEBKT (aka the trash can) next to to gun store. Most people choose to leave the newspaper or some other item you don't need to complete the game, but I thought it would be funny to toss 20 bucks.
After you LEAVE an item in the WASTEBKT, OPEN the WASTEBKT, then OPEN the door to the gun store and MOVE inside.
In the shop, TAKE one bullet which will cost you one COIN. I'm not sure if it matters which bullet you take, but I always take one from the right side (BUL1).
Now scroll all the way to the left on your NOTE book to display your ADDRESS page. Then, choose the LEAVE command and click on a bullet that is adjacent to the bullet you just purchased. In other words, choose LEAVE then select a bullet that is still for sale on the counter. I think it needs to be a bullet of the SAME TYPE as the one you just purchased (so in my case, BUL1). Then, click on that same bullet again with the LEAVE command still highlighted.
You should notice that the names on your ADDRESS page have been changed to WASTEBKT.
Now leave the shop and go directly into a taxi cab. SPEAK to the driver, and when he asks you where you want to go, you should be able to select an invisible option toward the bottom of the page.
Typically if you're doing this glitch as instructed, that hidden option will allow you to access Auburn Road, which is one of the final destinations in the game. Here you will be able to grab the MEMO from Martha Vickers' drawer, which is usually the final piece of evidence you need to finish the game.
