Part 1 of a 5 part series where I cover the Legacy of Kain franchise.

This video has 3 main parts in the following order, my review of the game, the story overview (with some story from Blood Omen), and other lesser known things about the development of Soul Reaver. Each video in this series will cover 1 title, with the last video release wrapping it up with what is left of the franchise including the cancelled Dead Sun project, and Nosgoth.

Thanks for being patient with my releases! This one took me a long time to edit together, and I had some difficulties with video capture that unfortunately was corrected after I completed the playthrough.The playthrough of Soul Reaver 2 is coming along nicely, and should have better fidelity.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was released in 1999 by Crystal Dynamics as the sequel to the Playstation/PC release of Blood Omen. It was an overly ambitious game, with a "metroidvaynia" style of gameplay containing well written dialog, combat and puzzle solving. The game follows the events of Blood Omen , set a few thousand years after Kain's refusal to sacrifice himself. This time, Kain is the antagonist , and Raziel being the protagonist chasing him to enact revenge.

How well do you remember the game? How well has it held up 16 years later? Did you know tons of content was cut from the game and the story drastically altered from it's original design?
