Setting up a HD web cam in OBS Studio on macOS (for Steve)
In this episode I'm demonstrating how to setup a single web cam in OBS Studio, with the intention to record a full HD 1920x1080 signal. Out of the box a web cam may default to a lower resolution, and we have to employ a few tricks to squeeze every bit of quality out of it.
I'm using OBS 23 on macOS High Sierra for this demo, with a Logitech C922 web cam. You can get one here: https://amzn.to/2YRYliz
It's a nice camera, capable to doing 60fps at 1280x720 or 30fps at 1920x1080. I use it occasionally as a secondary web cam. My primary web cam is a Logitech C930e with a slightly wider angle of view compared to the C922 (90 degrees as opposed to 78 degrees). You can get the C930e here: https://amzn.to/31qUBGl
The type of light I'm talking about at the end is called an LED Ring Light, they're available for about $10-$20 from Amazon and eBay from various manufactures, like this one: https://amzn.to/31qPLJm
I've made this video for Steve in preparation for his series Rigging in Blender 2.8. It was a "spur of the moment" recording without much planning, but after watching it, I thought it might be helpful to other viewers too - so here you go. Enjoy!
