Sewer Shark (3DO) Playthrough (Single Video Version, Full Game)
I believe this one took a few hours to beat again in 2017. I originally beat this game on the Sega CD back in the early 90's. This is my playthrough from 2017 but combined into a single video. Back then I divided it up into four seperate videos.
Deaths edited out.
This is some of what I wrote in the original video :
"This was a game that I beat on Sega Cd back when it came out. One of the few games I owned for the system at that time. Also one of the few full motion video games that I like. That and Road Avenger.
Check below for details on how to play the game. Some information is not well explained in the manuals. I'm playing on an emulator.
This one is more interactive though since you don't just push directions but shoot shit as well.
Hit detection is strange sometimes as it seems my reticle is completely lined up with the enemy but misses. However the game is easy enough and doesn't get tricky until after reaching Beach Bum rank.
You get a checkpoint at each rank. When you press start you will continue from that point. Unlimited continues.
I went for the 3DO version since it would be an easy victim to add to my kill list, rather than replaying the Sega Cd version just to record a playthrough of a game I already beat.
The main difference with this version is that it has better graphics on the video.
The main idea of this game is is holding B then pressing Right, Up, Left, or Down when the corresponding turn appears. You will get a list of 3 directions to follow early on. Niner refers to 9 on a clock, so its the left path. 12 is Up, 6 is down, 3 is Right.
Make sure to hold B before hitting the direction when it flashes on screen (bottom has the arrow indicators). You can also see them somewhat, though its a grainy game.
Same concept for using the recharge stations which you NEED to go into. Missing a turn or missing a station to charge is basically death. When approaching a station you will see a Red and Green light at the top of the tunnel. The green side is the side you have to turn into. Hold B and hit that direction. Its randomised so its not always the same side.
Aside from that you need to hit certain KILL totals with your score before going to the next rank. So shoot what you can. Be aware early on that you may want to conserve ammo and not hold fire ALL the time. You can run out of energy early on, but later its not an issue. Just remember firing wastes energy faster."
Stay tuned !!
