In this excerpt from the full review, we talk about Shadow Labyrinth's soundtrack and how it reminds us of a classic like Metroid.
Set in the year 3333 within the United Galaxy Space Force (UGSF) universe, Shadow Labyrinth introduces us to Swordsman No. 8, a silent warrior awakened in a labyrinthine alien world. At his side is PUCK, a floating orb that acts as a guide and advisor, capable of merging into different forms—such as the speedy Mini-PUCK or the powerful mecha GAIA—to aid in survival and exploration.
The plot begins when PUCK summons Swordsman No. 8 and equips him with abilities such as swordplay, ESP maneuvers, and transformations that allow him to navigate a dark and hostile environment. The two must advance toward a gigantic black tower, uncover the planet's secrets, and attempt to escape the most unforgiving labyrinth in the universe. Along the way, they unlock new abilities, defeat monsters, and utilize old maze mechanics reminiscent of the classic Pac-Man, reimagined in a darker and more challenging Metroidvania style. 🎮
