5Giving my thoughts and impressions of Shadow Of The Ninja Reborn, a remake of the original Shadow of the Ninja game from the NES. Thank you PR Hound for the review code

Players can play as either Hayate or Kaede, master ninjas from the Iga clan, in their attempt to take down Garuda and his demonic minions. Starting weapons are the katana and kusarigama but players can find lots of other weapons throughout their playthrough as well as items. I find the controls to switch through multiple items and weapons a bit clunky. Once players complete the game, an item shop opens allowing the player to buy items to start the game with them. There is also a hard mode, a time attack mode and an online ranking.
There are 5 stages from the original and 1 new stage added by the remake. The art style is a newer pixel art with a chibi-like/cartoony appearance, somewhat similar to the Rocky and Pocky reshrined. The music is very catchy and fitting for the stages. Definitely needs a soundtrack asap; it brought me back so much old memories playing NES games.
This game is very technical, needing precise actions as everything has a certain weight to them. This makes combat tense and difficult. Nothing overly hard or artificial but reminiscent of the true difficulty of NES games. Patience is well rewarded.
I haven't being able to test out the coop feature where 1 player uses Hayate and another uses Kaeda. But its available for those who enjoy a good coop game.

Def recommend this game for fans of the retro/arcade action platformers, enjoyers of hard/challenging games, and those who have a soft spot for replaying updated older titles. I still recommend this game for those who are looking for a shorter fun game that can play with friends. I enjoyed this remake and hope more older well deserved titles are remade/remastered. Make the Iga clan proud!
