Shadow Warrior (2013) is a reboot of the game with the same name from 1997. Developed by Flying Wild Hog and published by Devolver Digital, Shadow Warrior (2013) plays very differently from the original. Guns are severely underpowered for the most part, and especially playing it these days, the shooting feels pretty crappy. However, melee combat and magic abilities are emphasized far more in this game, and landing chi strikes on enemies and cutting them into pieces is still pretty satisfying. In addition to this, large numbers of enemies will typically spawn in arena-like settings that bring the gameplay closer to something like Serious Sam - an idea that would later be refined (and frankly, done much better) in Doom (2016).

There is fun to be had here, and the visuals still look pretty nice with the bright and colorful environments, but it certainly isn't without its flaws.
