The Executioner is a neutral role who's only goal is to have their randomly decided target lynched. The main benefit of being the Executioner is being immune to getting murder at night (can still be arsoned I think). Supposedly, if the Executioner successfully gets his/her target lynched, they remain an Executioner and the goal is achieved. But if the target is killed through other means (such as murder), the Executioner will change into the Jester and must follow that role instead. So...

The Jester is another neutral role. The Jester's only goal is to get his or herself lynched by the town. If successful, the Jester will be included into the winner's no matter which side actually wins. Also if successfully lynched, the Jester may kill one person who voted Guilty the next night for a final laugh.

Both roles are incredibly hard to play as but add a level of depth to the game as people become far less hesitant to lynch someone if they are uncertain about the Jesters and Executioners active in game.
