Shanghai - Amiga - Stygian Phoenix Shoutout! - Gaming Memories And Review
Released by Activision in 1986 for the Commodore Amiga and many other platforms, Shanghai is a typical Mahjong solitaire card game for your computer except for one thing... It was probably the first of its kind. It features very nice graphics that depict the Chinese game well. Other than my longing for a reshuffle feature and the lack of music, you can't ask for much more.
Requested by Stygian Phoenix, who remembered her mother playing it on the Amiga when she was a kid. She told me there was no footage of the end of the game where the dragon appears online... Well... Now there is! I highly recommend her channel, I am subscribed to her myself!

Since this game features no music, and most of my experience with computer mahjong games comes with a very stereotypical Chinese sound, I decided to do my very own soundtrack and give it a go myself! The music was recorded in one session using a keyboard connected to the Roland MT-32 Sound Synthesizer and recorded to cassette tape before being brought over to the digital world. Keeping it retro!
