Shanghai's Iconic Lantern Fest goes overseas for Year of the Dragon
Since the Yuyuan Garden Lantern Festival was first held in 1995, it has become a landmark Chinese New Year folk cultural event in Shanghai.
This year, the Yuyuan Garden Lantern Festival, as a national intangible cultural heritage, has stepped out of China for the first time on the world stage.
In Paris, France and Shanghai, China, the 29th Yu Garden Lantern Festival was lit up on the same day to celebrate the upcoming 2024 Spring Festival.
On the evening of December 15, local time in France, 60 large lamp sets and more than 2,000 lanterns from China were lit up at the same time in the Paris Style Garden.
Featured are not only the Chinese Zodiac sign of the dragon for the year of 2024, but also the magnificent beasts in the Book of Mountains and Seas.
