Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Part 1: Ret-2-Go on a New Adventure!
0Whoa, it's time for something new! Welcome to Shantae: Half-Genie Hero! They just recently announced a new one, and it reminded me that I had this sitting around on Steam, so I figured, why not stream it?
This is an adventure/exploration platformer, or to draw comparisons, it's like a Metroid or late-stage Castlevania, only with discrete levels. Believe it or not, it stars Shantae, who's half-genie and a hero. She can use magic dances to transform into other animals to help her explore levels and reach new areas.
For this playthrough, I think I'll do 100%, since I don't believe it's particularly demanding. This isn't quite like a Metroid game, where the bulk of the items are just extra ammo, so I think it's worth showing everything off.
Now, I don't think I did a great job going into it during the video itself, but this is the fourth game in the series. There are a lot of recurring characters and all that, but each of the games really can stand on their own just fine.
