0Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation – The Endless Seven-Day Journey is a 2021 adventure game developed by Neos Corporation, Millennium Kitchen, and Star Factory, and designed and written by Kaz Ayabe. Based on the manga and anime series Crayon Shin-chan, the game has been described as a spiritual successor to the Boku no Natsuyasumi video game series directed by Ayabe and developed by Millennium Kitchen. Like Boku no Natsuyasumi, Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation follow the player character as he spends his summer vacation in an open-ended environment with few set gameplay goals or obligations. It was released in Japan for the Nintendo Switch on July 15, 2021, and worldwide for Switch, PlayStation 4, and Windows in 31 August 2022.
Like other entries in the Crayon Shin-chan series, Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation follows the comedic and occasionally surreal adventures of the Nohara family: five-year-old Shinnosuke (the titular "Shin-chan"), his father Hiroshi, mother Misae, younger sister Himawari, and the family dog Shiro. When Hiroshi goes on a week-long business trip to Kyushu, the rest of the family travels with him to vacation at the home of Misae's childhood friend in rural "Asso", Kumamoto. Upon arriving at Kumamoto Station, the family is approached by Dr. Akuno, a mad scientist who gives Shinnosuke a camera that produces illustrations rather than photographs. Shortly after the Nohara family's arrival in Asso, Akuno reappears with a dinosaur he claims to have extracted from the past using time travel. When Shinnosuke witnesses Akuno summoning a dinosaur at his laboratory, Akuno puts Shinnosuke in a time loop that endlessly repeats the seven days of his vacation.
While the gameplay of Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation is loosely framed by Shinnosuke's quest to fill his vacation journal with pictures and search for interesting stories to print in the local newspaper, the player is generally free to spend their time as they see fit, with few set goals or obligations. The open-ended, laid-back nature of the gameplay was designed in order to appeal to a wide audience, from child-aged Shin-chan fans to adult fans of Boku no Natsuyasumi. The game includes an achievement system based on activities such as catching insects, fishing, growing vegetables, and running errands for the townspeople. Time passes from day to night, with certain activities and events exclusive to specific times of the day.
Today, the Pterosaur join the family for morning exercise. After breakfast Yoyoko leave the naming to Shinchan for the Pterosaur and as usual, most of the naming option is oddly either hilarious or absurd though the first option is good enough to spell out compared to the rest of the choices. At 5th day, an event with Motto Yamada plays. In her event, she gives Shinnosuke a tour around the new opened area including the garden that Yoshiko used to have or care before she worked for the newspaper which can be used by Shinchan to water the plants and get ingredient without having to buy one for the request. When both of them arrived in front of Akuno's lab, Yamada wonders where he is and as it turns out...he was sitting on one of the red bench eastern souths of the lab. Yamada gave the professor the slip for the dinosaur's food much to the professor's shock for forgetting it and Yamada sighs at his absent-mindedness. Yamada said that she will send ten rolls of hay for the dinosaur by Tuesday and think of a way for P-Terry's feed. Yamada thanked Shinchan for finding Akuno with Chocobi. After finishing her event, she unlocked the garage area that was unaccessible in the early days of holiday. In this garage, Masaya introduces Shinnosuke to the Dinosaur Battle.
Dinosaur Battle uses the gameplay of rock-paper-scissor style which also represent the dinosaur's move attack. When one side wins the rock-paper-scissor, the character's dinosaur gets to attack and the losing side cannot attack in that turn and vice versa. After several turns, both character's Special bar fully refilled which can be used to beat all of the three rock-paper-scissor and if both character pick Special, we have to pick the card with the blue color during the Tie-Breaker mode. If the card picked is blue, we get to attack but if we accidentally pick the red card, the opponent's dino gets to attack us instead. You don't have to win all of the match in the Dino Battle and you can quit the match anytime.
Once the match is over, Shinoosuke has so much free time to spend before going to sleep to end the day
