SMT 1 and 2 should be proud. They are the only games that made me even consider truly cheating to beat them, and they both succeeded. One because of a bug, another because of a near impossible boss given conditions nobody would know unless they went step by step through a guide.

I gotta rate it now i guess:
Gameplay: 5.5/10
The gameplay fares about the same as SMT 1, but with a bunch of quality of life features. This increase in score is bogged down specifically by fighting Satan on the Neutral and Chaos routes being impossible without following a guide to get items to counter him with. Meanwhile, the final boss is easier than him.

Story: 5.5/10
I was less interested in this game's story compared to SMT 1. Story revelations feel very sudden and I felt like I was just wandering and the story found the party for a majority of the game. The ending is quite abrupt as well.

Sound: 6/10
The music is ok. Funnily enough, the best tracks are recycled form SMT 1.

Graphics: 7/10
Still SNES. Slightly better than SMT 1 with demons having 2 frames of animation making the battle screen a bit more active and the walls in the wandering sections being more detailed.

Other Stuff:
There are still 3 routes. I personally don't care to sit through the game again as I would prefer to move on to greener pastures.

Overall: 6/10
A true sequel in that it follows right after SMT 1's neutral timeline. It plays like SMT 1, but beating one game after another SMT 2 feels like a step forward as well as a step back. Play it if you're interested in SMT's origins.

Now thanks to the result of a coin flip, I will now torture myself as I begin to play through Hollow Knight.
