   • Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance - Lowe...

The boss with the highest power level we've faced in this run thus far, though it would be fair to acknowledge that the tools at our disposal are also numerous, having grown a great deal since we fought Hydra or Naamah. Shockbound used under Pandemonic Feast is about as effective as you'd think it would be here, knowing Agrat is weak to elec, though it takes me some time to find myself in the right spot to activate the magatsuhi gauge for the first and only time in this recording, and the Nahobino ends up proccing too few hits for it to really tear a big enough hole in the boss's vitality.

As you've been able to tell from the previous video, if you haven't played the game yourself, Agrat's claim to glory is enabling her team to land critical hits with magic, which isn't normally possible, and her special skill is Queen's Decree, used immediately on her first action. This skill is a 12-hit multistrike almighty barrage of spells against the party, the great number of hits almost ensuring it will crit at least once. When that happens, the spell will be repeated - until it stops critting. At this point, Agrat will use a plain attack command against a random party member, which is a lot less threatening.

I maintain my Magatsuhi gauge and buff up my defence instead, landing one Sukunda to prevent myself from whiffing. Depending on my luck surviving Queen's Decree, I may need some healing in the next round. When push comes to shove, the MC can lose some of his allies or even perish himself, which indeed happened on one of the early attempts that I wasn't recording.

On subsequent turns, MT fire magic and ice magic can be used. Agrat's elemental specialisation is the reason Succubus is here as a pure support unit: her immunity to ice and resistance to fire makes our time here much safer. Ice is especially important, as Agrat's magatsuhi attack is the single-target Bufubarion, which she may repeat. A single ice dampener will in most cases do the trick (it didn't on my last shitpost upload that you can go watch if you've missed it).

Regarding my other party members, Tao is as usual available for buffing, healing and item usage, and I kinda require Yakshini on Magatsuhi turns for max Shockbound damage. Yoko has Ziodyne that she can use to inflict hurt on the boss but no elec proficiency that would distinguish her from any old demon. In this video, she replaces Thunderbird when the latter runs out of MP. Thunderbird is the better Zio bot for most of the fight thanks to Elec Pleroma, an actual elec proficiency and access to Shockbound should it ever make it to a magatsuhi turn with its MP intact, which it doesn't on this early recording. Giving it Restore would fix the MP problem entirely, but our infinite source of Restore is an Aogami Husk that takes an astounding amount of time to recover on the map, so I leave it for later use when I absolutely need it.

With poorer luck and greater need for healing, I have to use a couple Soma Drops on Tao who's been buffing and healing the party like crazy here. The battle is worth redoing to retain these as well as some of the Elec gems I've used up here, Soma Drops' improved availability notwithstanding.

The battle against Lilith and the Qadištu is next, and that is certain to require some stiff preparation. Wish me luck.
