Just about the only reason I bought a PSP earlier this year is the anticipated release of this remake of PS1 classic "Persona: Revelations" (1996) for said handheld. Here is a short gameplay clip from the beginning of the Japanese version (which came out last month). The English release is due later this year, and if need be I'll import it from the States to get it as soon as possible.

As is typical in fanboy land, a lot of veterans of the series have lamented some of the notable changes made in the remake in general and the addition of a J-pop soundtrack in particular. Since I kinda liked Persona 3 & 4 (at least enough to spend some 180 hours with those games) I'm not afraid to admit that I think the soundtrack is quite catchy. The gorgeous anime cutscenes are also a welcome addition, although they tend to emphasize the fact that the faithfully preserved sprites and character portraits during actual gameplay look rather dated by now.

Note: If it looks like I don't know what the hell I'm doing during the battles, that would not be an unfair assessment of the situation...
