Shiny Absol LIVE after a total of 210,588 encounters on the same cartridge! - Pokémon Ruby
0HISTORY OF THE QUEST
Almost 5 months had passed since I captured my shiny Snorunt. In case you didn't know, the search for my Snorunt was the longest and hardest I ever had. I got Snorunt on a live video that is uploaded to the channel. I did it, approximately, after 171,859 encounters as minimum. Due to the "berry glitch", which accidentally appeared during the search, I had to pass all my Pokémon and important items to my Pokémon Sapphire and my old Pokémon Emerald. After some time, I was ready to start a new game from 0 and be able to solve that problem. It was clear to me that this game would be very different from all the others. My goal was and still is to complete the Pokédex and win the Hoenn Pokémon League with the team I wanted to form in my previous game. During those 5 months, I got my starter Pokémon, captured every Pokémon species I encountered along the way, recreated the shiny Pokémon team I wanted for the Elite Four, did some trades with my Pokémon Sapphire, and trained the EV's of almost every Pokémon I got. I started this quest on November 6, 2019 and ended on June 17, 2020. I spent a total of 8 months searching every day non-stop with a daily objective that has been alternating. Normally, I had an average of 1,000 encounters a day, but sometimes I made 600, 800 encounters a day. There was even a time (April after phase #12) when I took a 2-day break without recording, which ended up being 2 weeks without recording but with an average of 2000 daily encounters off camera. Then I went back to recording as before. I did 5/6 recording sessions of about 20 minutes in FHD 30p quality that were equal to 75 encounters per recording. I did 25/50/400 encounters off camera to reach 100 encounters per session and make an average of 1000 encounters a day. This is because my camera battery lost a lot of durability and I had nothing better to do. I couldn't go back to my Pokémon Sapphire, Sapphire #2, FireRed, LeafGreen until I could buy a Nintendo DS Capture Card to make my legendary return on those adventures. Today 06/24/2020, 10:17 PM are still unavailable. So I could only record in Ruby and do off-camera encounters, upload my videos, download old episodes from the first seasons of the anime, customize my YouTube channel, try again to get Treecko on my other Pokémon Ruby cartridge, go back to play Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team (mid-May 2020) to recruit all but 2 Pokémon I'll reserve for a video and repeat the feat on my old Red Rescue Team cartridge (currently, while I'm uploading the latter 3 videos). All that apart for 8 intense months.
MY FEELINGS AFTER GETTING ABSOL
I am very happy that I finally got my Absol. This means a lot to me, this is a big turning point not only in my adventure (Pokémon Ruby) but also in my other adventures (Pokémon Sapphire and Emerald). As I said in the video, I felt like the happiest man on the planet. Everything went perfect that day, I had just received the new battery and I could already record 1 hour in the best quality as before, even longer with the old battery. At night, my parents went to bed sooner than usual and I took the opportunity to make the last recording of the day while watching "Django unchained" on TV and finally, I found my Absol and the video was tremendously good. I am very grateful and I feel rewarded after 8 months of searching and recording, 24 phases and 210 thousand encounters. It is very pleasant to know that I can continue my adventure and continue my path towards redemption.
CURIOSITIES
· I paused the search after phase #4, to get the shiny Kecleon that was on the Route 120 bridge, just after Steven. So it would actually be 7 months of searching instead of approximately 8.
· I only got 7 live videos of the 24 phases I went through.
. I got some shiny Pokémon while watching a Quentin Tarantino documentary or some of his movies and Absol was no exception.
· This quest together with my Snorunt's quest are probably the longest searches ever made and seen on 1 single console with 1 single game in the world.
· My shiny Snorunt, shiny Mudkip (starting Pokémon of the new game) and shiny Absol have the same nature.
I got my shiny Snorunt and shiny Absol in June 2019 and June 2020, respectively. With just a difference of 1 year and 5 days between the two.
