The sirens wailed through the Miami night as Officer Yuda sped towards the hospital, his partner Noah groaning in pain beside him. Blood soaked Noah's sleeve, and Yuda’s grip on the wheel tightened.

He wished he were somewhere else—back in his old convertible, cruising along Ocean Drive with Maria, his wife, beside him. He remembered her laughter, the warmth of her hand in his, and the wind whipping through their hair as they danced to distant salsa music.
