So Harry Potter has always had a dubious relationship with Christianity. Lot's of sermons have been preached about it, and now the far left is getting involved and (Though not preaching sermons, at least doing their version) and hating people that play it! I grew up when Harry Potter first came out and I remember clearly the furor that Christians laid against it.

These passages largely condemn or show the consequences of relying on magic instead of God. There are three different "Categories" of magic if you will. The first is Scrying/divination/necromancy/being a medium etc. Clearly proscribed in the Bible. No question. Don't talk to spirits, don't seek to know the future, it's bad. Trust in God instead because He's the one that crafted the future. There's a whole sermon series that won't fit in the video about it.
Second is the crafting of healing from the Greek word that we get Pharmacy/pharmaceuticals. The act of trusting in magics for healing, rather than God. In the ancient world there was an understanding that (At least in the Hebrew mind) that life came from God, so to try to get life from anything else?.... Not very faithful.
Third is the sorcery/enchanting/magics in general. This would be (We assume from tradition) the seeking of powers from demons. As I mentioned in the video, there is a whole sermon to be preached against this form of magic, but it's not the type that is used in Harry Potter. They are born with it like it is a 5th great force of physics; or the Force. It's not something they gain, it's something they have and just learn to control. They have no choice in the matter. And, yes as a player you are controlling them and making choices for them, so you have some agency in their actions, but not in how they got their powers.
