In this episode we look at the on-going internal identity crisis Final Fantasy seems to have, with staff at Square Enix seemingly concerned the numerical instalments are isolating the prestigious anthology from next-generation gamers. This is something that has been evident since at least Final Fantasy X as the series consistently seems to reinvent and rejuvenate itself with simplified and more modern action-RPG combat mechanics, assurances to players that they're safe for 'newcomers' and a reboot of their flagship bestseller with Final Fantasy VII Remake. But is any of this actually necessary?
