In this video, I answer a question I received from someone who emailed me and asked if their sound effects should be in stereo or mono.

The general rule that I learned: anything that you want to place in a specific location of the stereo field should be in mono. Only sounds that you want the listener to feel surrounded by should be in stereo, ie: ambiences.
