Should You Play "DOOM Eternal" Game Review
Time to beat: ~12.5 hours
played on "hurt me plenty" the second level difficulty of four.
Most guns max upgraded, 6/6 slayer gates to unlock unmaykr (definitely worth), most of the secrets.
This is everything you can want in a "run and gun" (hack and slash) style FPS/RPG. Doom Eternal does an amazing job of making the player feel both challenged, empowered with an arsenal of bad-ass weapons, and like an unstoppable slayer of demons. There's satisfying gun rotations, weapon perks, enemy encounters, and all except 1/13 missions I felt the maps were incredibly well designed (keep in mind I personally prefer a linear map design for a game like Doom).
Pros:
Bad-ass Slayer perspective
Crazy fun, intense and exciting combat with encounter after encounter
a relatively interesting storyline with a much more dense amount of story if you are willing to read.
achievements, challenges, and of course harder difficulties to test your capabilities
Some of the BEST in-game soundtracks that seamlessly immerses you into the game, Headphones highly recommended
Cons:
If you aren't going to play on higher difficulties, or read the lore, the game is relatively short for a $60 game
Some of the enemies felt less than satisfying to take down. Even playing around their weaknesses, using a considerable, if not all of a specific type of ammo to take down a single foe, of which you'll need to fight multiple of, creates a heavy ammo-scarcity, that felt unnecessary. Ammo scarcity is one of the aspects I enjoy about doom, as it encourages rotating through all your available resources, but some of the enemies felt like you only had one or two ways to kill them.
By the time you have unlocked your complete arsenal, the game is virtually over... I would have like 3-5 more missions capped out to fully enjoy everything you have access to.
