188This video kinda went WAY off the rails...
Of the SIX digs our dig team unearthed today, only three of them have anything really noteworthy about them, including a free but flawed 3D crossword puzzle program, a text-mode Poker simulation with some believable AI, and a screen saver with a bunch of fish which actually does what a screen saver's supposed to do!
ALSO: In regards to the cut "metaverse" rant mentioned partway into this video in case you want to hear what I went into: The main problem I have with the "metaverse" as it's being touted in terms of modern day semantics is that it's trying to solve a made-up problem. Software which behaved like "metaverse" kind of stuff before the term was even popularized or used to any extent, like Second Life or VR Chat, these things built up huge communities which simply wanted a way to escape reality and hang out. People there weren't looking to do real chores in the virtual world they just wanted to have fun, and in the case of Second Life (and possibly VR Chat in the future but not as I write this) they were able to introduce a digital marketplace because members of that community wanted a way to profit off the time they invested into creating things for that digital world. Any modern day company trying to get into "metaverse" stuff without building a community first is basically aiming for disaster, as they're doing this to solve problems which don't exist and which modern VR aficionados (myself included) don't actually want. If I go into a grocery store in VR (and yes, I have) it's because I want to just toss things off the shelves and climb on the product towers and just have fun exploring, not because I ACTUALLY want to do my grocery shopping. :P
